Marie V. Duffy Principal’s Welcome 

Welcome to Marie V. Duffy Elementary School and the 2024-25 school year!

At Marie V. Duffy Elementary School, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant community that prepares our children to thrive in a dynamic world. Our primary goal is to enhance the academic achievement of all students through rigorous programs and tailored support, nurturing innovative, self-directed learners.

Technology plays a crucial role in our educational approach. Each K-5 student is equipped with a Chromebook, with our youngest learners benefiting from touch-screen devices. Recognizing computers as essential learning and communication tools, we integrate new technologies into classroom lessons. Every classroom is equipped with a Promethean board and document camera to enrich instructional delivery.

We prioritize the social-emotional well-being of our students through daily class meetings, guidance counselor support, and our THRIVE therapeutic program. THRIVE provides an onsite support system, fostering mental wellness with actionable plans for both students and staff. Additionally, teacher-led initiatives such as Duffy Drop In and Duffy Force promote a positive school culture, offering students valuable leadership opportunities.

To meet the diverse academic needs of our student body, we employ proven instructional practices, extensive intervention services, and inclusive classes across all grade levels. We are in the second year of a three year grant with NJIP (New Jersey Inclusion Project) which is moving us towards an increasingly inclusive environment.

Our dedicated Duffy staff continually engages in professional development tailored to both individual and district-wide needs. Through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), teachers collaborate closely to enhance instructional quality consistently.  Leticia Marquez, our parent liaison, serves as a vital connection between the school and parents. In addition to keeping parents informed about school activities, Leticia hosts workshops and provides hands-on support, including assistance with the Parent Portal and messenger systems.  Amelia Nittolo, our Student Services Coordinator and CPIS, Community and Parent Involvement Specialist, is another resource for families.

Together, we strive to cultivate a positive, open, and productive environment built on respect and resilience, empowering all students to excel. We look forward to a rewarding school year ahead!
